Bare legs!

March 31st, 2008

Well, the temperature has finally climbed above 0 Celsius today (although it’s raining so it’s still cold and wet), I badly wanted to wear my new Belted Pumpkin Skirt (silly name, lol). I decided to ditch my tights ’cause none of them looked right with the skirt.   Goodness, my legs haven’t seen the light of day forever!  All morning girls at work were asking if I was cold, lol.   Good thing the skirt is this soft thin tweed material so it’s not too flimsy,  But to be quite honest, I do feel a little timid now that I have to venture outside to get lunch :(

All about flowers at Avon

March 28th, 2008

I went over to Avon’s website for a quick peek, it is positively spring-infused. Flower by Cynthia Rowley Eau de Parfum Spray ($30) just came out. I tried a sample from my mom’s Avon lady friend. Whoo, it smells soooooo pretty! It is so refreshing and totally reminds me that spring-like weather is just around the corner (as soon as all this snow starts melting!). It was as if I had a big bouquet of flowers on my desk the whole day.   Love the bottle too.  So cute!  I’m not a big perfume wearer, but I told my mom I loved it so if she orders it I’ll totally accept it as a gift, lol.  They are also giving away this pretty floral patterned Umbrella by Cynthia Rowley for Avon when you get the fragrance. Yippee! I’ll be skipping under the umbrella in the spring rain.

And I’m totally being tempted by the flowery home accents too!

And check out these adorable Flower Placemats $9.99 for set of 4.

Flower Pitcher and Tumblers Set $24.99

Spring Flower Pillow $14.99

Juice Couture’s weekend chic

March 28th, 2008

Juicy Couture’s got some amazing sailor-chic weekend attires and accessories. Some of the flip-flops I’m not a huge fan of, but they are doing a good job with the spring stuff. I am particularly liking this Pleated Chiffon and Jersey Dress $198. Love the delicate neckline and sleeves.

Couture Canvas Red Carpet Tote $175. And this canvas tote is quite adorable in the light pink print. It’s perfect for going to the market on the weekend.

Juicy Couture Violet Sunglasses $150. And I love the softer color of these shades, very feminine, plus the light pink earpieces match the pink canvas tote. Albeit it’s on the inside, which is better ’cause that is more subtle.

Love this quote

March 28th, 2008

From hand-me-downs to charity shop treasures, five recycling fans explain why second-hand clothes are never out of fashion in Observer. My favorite tip:

Lose the pretence

‘It’s not vintage, it’s second hand, OK?’

Love it! Which reminds me that I haven’t stopped by my local consignment shops in a long time.

Powers of Rice – Origins’ new exfoliation products

March 27th, 2008

I eat rice every time I visit my parents’ place. There are so many kinds of rice and they are all very nutritious to various degrees. Origins‘ new exfoliation product line called Modern Friction has ingredients derived from purple rice. Have you had purple rice? It is the king of all rice. Its nutritional values are 10 times better than the regular ol’ white rice. It’s high in anti-oxidants and fiber. And it’s so delicious Chinese people usually use it to make dessert. There’s even purple rice ice cream! Next time you visit China, you must try it. Yum! With Modern Friction, the rice starch wrapped in shea butter and aloe cream is said to be extra gentle yet extremely effective at sloughing the dead skin cells leaving your skin radiant, both for face and body. I tried to keep up with the scrubs in the long winter, but the skin on my body just can’t stay smooth and supple long enough. Don’t you just hate that crepiness on the legs? Now soon we’ll be ditching our tights, we gotta make sure our legs are shiny and smooth for the world, right girls? I just tried a sample and I loved it. I’m going to get a full-size and continue with it and see if the benefits are really long-lasting.

Modern Friction™ for the Body $49.

Modern Friction™ Nature’s gentle dermabrasion $39.50. This one is for the face.

Modern Fusion™ Skin transforming catalyst $36. I must try this purple rice serum since after the exfoliation you gotta treat your skin to some serious care. Load ‘em anti-oxidants!

Free Shipping and Modern Friction™ Sample at Origins.com thru 3.30.08. Enter code 030811LS at checkout.

Cute bag and cute shoes put me in a better mood

March 26th, 2008

Wow we are really having some schizophrenic weather. Yesterday it was snow storming and today it’s nice and sunny. It’s still freezing and there’s still some snow on the ground, but the heck with it, I’m wearing my new white mary jane pumps with golden metallic trims. I just love walking around in them, hehe.

And I think I gushed about wanting a pink bag for spring, right? Well, my pink Jvin Buckle Detailed Square Tote (best deal ever!) has finally arrived. It’s super soft and light, and quite roomy.

Pretty shoes cheer me up

March 25th, 2008

Holy crap, winter has come back with a vengeance. I damn near got blown across the parking lot as I was leaving work. I got dirty slushy snow all over my peep-toe pumps and tights. Well, I’m not going back to getting all bundled tomorrow even if Winter doesn’t want to leave. I’m not discouraged. As I’m trying to clean up my poor pumps, I’m looking at seriously spring-y shoes that are in the happiest and the most delicious shapes and colors.

Apply green eyeshadow perfectly

March 25th, 2008

Anybody love green eyeshadow? I do. I’ve been practicing applying it. I love that smoky eye-popping effect. But if you aren’t careful, you know what’s going to happen. I was so glad to see InStyle demonstrating it on one of my favorite actresses, Olivia Wilde. And I had an “ah-ha!” moment after reading this: “The deeper your skin tone, the darker the green should be: rich emerald for dark skin, light kelly or seafoam for paler complexions. The color is right “if it doesn’t disappear into your skin or look like it’s sitting on the surface,” says Lobell, who opted for Urban Decay Loose Pigments Eye Shadow in Graffiti on Wilde. ” Ah-ha! So if I have medium skin tone like Olivia’s, I shouldn’t wear bright pale green shadows huh? I really love the bronze-y green shadow on her, really suites her complexion. And you can achieve the smokey-eye with green shadows too.

Lust for Marc bags

March 25th, 2008

I’m totally in love with Marc by Marc Jacobs’ spring bags. They are sticking true to the classic signature of Marc’s handbags, simple, practical, and very modern and young. The shapes are so adorable and the colors are pretty and easy to wear. Hmm…I gotta do my taxes soon, maybe I can spend my tax return on one of these babies. I’d be more than willing to hold back on buying any new clothes for the next 2 months in exchange for one of these bags.

dr. brandt Anti-Oxidant Water Booster – Blueberry

March 24th, 2008

If you want to get a ton of anti-oxidants into your body instantly, you might want to try Dr. Brandt Skincare Anti-Oxidant Water Booster – Blueberry 2 oz ($35). You add a drop of this blueberry flavored water booster to your water and get the same amount of anti-oxidants from 15 cups of green tea! I am a green tea fiend. But I have yet to drink 15 cups of green tea in a day! Believe me I have tried, I ended up going to the bathroom a LOT, lol. If you are already drinking green (or black, red, white) tea daily and taking multi-vitamin pills, this is a convenient way to add more anti-oxidants. A girl can never have enough anti-oxidants to have youthful-looking skin, a stronger immune system, and overall body health. This is also available in the original and pomegranate flavors.

Summer scarves

March 24th, 2008

According to Telegraph’s fashion writer Sarah Mower, It’s time to study the classics for the summer. Among the top ten classics, summer scarves is what I’m interested in getting right away. “A scarf is not just a fashionable accessory to wind nonchalantly around your neck. It’s also a way of wafting elegantly past trends you don’t necessarily want to commit your whole person to but don’t mind showing you know about: chiffon, florals, ethnic prints, sequins (as seen at Anna Sui).” Many of our moms wear beautiful scarves year around, right? They are right about something eh? I knew I should’ve listened to my mom. I’m quite liking the pure silk scarves from Vera. The prints are colorful and modern. And just like shown in the pictures, they are perfect for dressing up a simple tee.
