The formidable French fashion royal Carine Roitfeld and Julia Restoin Roitfeld at unveiling of Chanel’s traveling museum, the Mobile Art pavilion, in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield. I wonder anyone in their presence felt the compulsion to bow down before them.

Halloween Fancy Dressing

October 30th, 2008

Is everybody dressing up for Halloween? I’ll donning black lace, leather, and fishnets, plus fire-y red eyes. Guess I’ll be the generic demon woman, lol. Well…I didn’t know NET-A-PORTER.COM had some ridiculously devilishly gorgeous pieces that one could take to the ultimate Halloween ball. *Weeps*

Luella Penelope ribbon dress $1,130. I could just die in this dress. Luella Bartley is a pure genius. Goth never looked so gooood!

Chloe Flippy mini skirt $2,155. The most perfect skirt ever! Why can’t I find skirts full enough in mall stores?

Aminaka Wilmont Zipped leather skirt $1,625. So bad-ass.

Giuseppe Zanotti Suede ankle boots $795

Erickson Beamon Crystal collar necklace $1,025. Gotta have dark wicked jewelry too!

Roberto Cavalli Oval amethyst pendant $675

Christian Lacroix Embellished acrylic cuff $915

Go! Go! Beauty – Natural Lotions That Celebrate Cultural Diversity

October 30th, 2008

I just fell in love with a new line of lotions. It’s a collection of all-natural lotions perfect for the eco-conscious woman, teen, or diva – Go!Go! Beauty – totally plant-based and naturally scented lotions. These lotions are sensuous, luxury personal care products that are crafted with high quality, plant-based ingredients, and that are themed to celebrate the world’s beautiful diversity. The lotions are inspired by exotic and idyllic destinations around the world.   There are four culture-and-nature-inspired product families:

* Go!Go! Asian – Green Tea Antioxidant Lotion
* Go!Go! Latin – Verbena, Grapeseed & Olive Oil Lotion
* Go!Go! African – Shea Butter Lotion
* Go!Go! European – Oatmeal & Soy Lotion
I got the Go!Go! African Shea Butter lotion (the 8 oz. bottle of lotion retails for $15).  It literally smells like nature, fresh herbaceous perfumes mixed with exotic fruits. It’s so smoothing. And the lotion’s texture is silky and fast-absorbing, perfect for right after shower.

Go!Go! Beauty opposes animal testing – None of their products have been or ever will be tested on animals, and they look forward to a time when the practice will be a thing of the past. Their cruelty-free products even carry the P.E.T.A. Caring Consumer seal of approval. In their ongoing commitment to nature and to the planet, they’ve also ensured that their ingredients are biodegradable, that none are derived from animals (with the exception of bee pollen and honey) and that all of their packaging is recyclable. They believe that all our shopping and buying choices have impact beyond merely what ends up in our homes. It only makes sense that we consume responsibly.

And in the same spirit, Go!Go! takes its global-mindedness a step further. For every 200 bottles sold, Go!Go! will donate $100 to Women for Women International, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women in war-torn countries around the world rebuild their lives. They’d like their products to make their customers feel good while helping others feel better. Don’t you love it when the seemingly superficial beauty industry tries to do good? :D . Go ahead and get yourself a bottle or two, visit www.go-go-beauty.com.

Can’t have enough tights

October 28th, 2008

Every winter I can’t seem to do enough posts on tights. I’m seriously addicted to them much to chagrin of my guy who says he does not see the skin of my legs for months until next summer (a bit of an exaggeration methinks) ’cause they are always covered in tights. Can’t blame me, the tights are getting so fabulous. And if you are like me, like to do the basics with killer heels, then you gotta have fab tights too to keep the outfit from getting “uniform-ish”. These are my new finds.

Winter Whites

October 27th, 2008

It hasn’t really started snowing yet (I think forecast calls for light flurry tonight). But I’m already craving for winter whites. I’m absolutely in love with these dreamy pieces. I’m especially dying to get a new white sweater dress, but I always end up ruining it with stains and spots. Definitely have to keep an eye out for similar inexpensive versions.

Tibi Belted sweater dress $335

Chloe Raised leaf boots $1495. OMG! These are soooooo gorgeous I could just die.

Vanessa Bruno Silk blend dress $875

Fendi Collarless white coat $2520

Jimmy Choo Lara shoulder bag $2250

Bebe’s “outrageous” heels

October 27th, 2008

Well, I think my taste in shoes is definitely evolving and broadening. How else can I explain the fact that I’m attracted to these S/M-ish platform heels from bebe. I’m loving the trend of punctuating the basics with killer shoes. The basics in my closet now are getting more attention from me. I wouldn’t recommend pairing these heels with Bebe’s sexy “night out on the town” tops or dresses. That would be too much.

Patti Leather & Satin Sandal $139

Venetian Zipper Strappy Sandal $169

Diane Suede Patchwork Sandal $159

Amaya Satin Ruffled Sandal $129

Marion Cutout Mary Jane Pump $149

Tina Buckle Ankle Bootie $169

Fresh Sugar Affair Gift Set smells heavenly

October 27th, 2008

Fresh Sugar Affair Gift Set ($81 Value) Sugar Affair Gift Set ($60). Out of all the body washes and lotions that I collect, this is the one that my guy really likes too, because it smells like his favorite fruit lychee. First time he went to China with me, my aunt bought him fresh lychees to eat on a hot summer day. He couldn’t believe how juicy and sweet it tasted, he ate like 5 pounds of it. My aunt jokingly said he was lucky to eat this fruit now. In ancient China, lychee was the choice fruit for the emperor and empress in the palace in Beijing. Lychee is a tropical fruit native to southern China. Once it’s ripe, it doesn’t keep for long. When the royal family wanted lychee, it was delivered by the imperial messenger service’s fast horses, whose riders would take shifts day and night in a Pony Express-like manner, to the capital city (in northern China), with the fruit covered in ice to keep it fresh. After the story he proceeded to eat another 5 pounds, lol.  Needless to say, he was hooked. We buy lychee at Asian markets sometimes, although the quality is not the best, it’s not the freshest and the sweetest.

This gift set includes Sugar Lychee Body Lotion, Sugar Lychee Bath & Shower Gel, and Sugar Lychee Eau De Parfum. This set was created by Fresh exclusively for Sephora’s 10-year anniversary celebration. It smells good enough to eat!

Halloween festivities start

October 25th, 2008

We are going to Canada’s Wonderland’s annual Halloween Haunt event tonight, the first of our halloween festivities this year. I’m very excited, I love a good spook. The Jack the Ripper tour in London, England is THE tour I would like to go on someday. Has anybody been? I heard it’s fantastic, the guide is an awesome story-teller.

The temperature has dipped down very low. I’m wearing my new favorite coat, a gift from my cousin who bought it in a boutique in China. When she saw the apple green color, the lace trims, the big rose-shaped buttons, and the detachable fur collar, she knew it was me. I’ve gotten so many compliments from people, from high school girls to sweet old ladies. After the Halloween Haunt, we might go to see Saw 5 (yes I’m sick :p. It’s only one of the few horror flicks playing in the theater right now. This year’s Halloween’s seriously lacking horror movies.)

Vince Camuto ‘Calder’ Ankle Boot

October 24th, 2008

Vince Camuto ‘Calder’ Ankle Boot $158.95. *Drools* Never did I think I’d like something like this, it’s so un-girly and so fierce. Which is exactly what I’m looking for lately when it comes to ankle boots. And I love the fact that it’s not just another black boot. The brick red shade is so tough-glam.
