Thanks to my cousin who lives in the States and can ship stuff to me whenever a seller does not ship to Canada, one of the dozen DDF skincare products I picked up on gilt has finally arrived today! It’s the DDF Matte Finish Photo-Age Protection, SPF 30 ($32 at Beauty.com). I was pretty excited and I had to try it right away. How does it fare against some of my favorite sunscreens? Not bad at all! It is truly matte for one thing, which is a godsend for someone with oily skin.  I also love that it contains the exclusive DDF Redox Antioxidant Complex™ to help protect from free radical damage at the skin’s surface. I can even skip my usual moisturizer since this one can serve as both moisturizer and sunscreen (although if you have dry skin, you might not want to do that). One small drawback of this otherwise perfect sunscreen is it does take some effort to rub it in. I think that’s because one of the main ingredients is Titanium Dioxide. That is a physical block that can leave a bit of white cast if you don’t rub it in well. And throughout the day I unconsciously touched my face a few times (bad bad habit) and I got some on my fingers.  I don’t usually wear foundation during the day so I cannot say how well this wears under foundation.  But I imagine it should do pretty well since it is matte and once you let it set for 5 minutes before putting on foundation, it should be fine.  So my Holy Grail sunscreen search will continue, but this one is darn close.
