Lady Gaga goes gaga for granny’s girdle

Normally I don’t care about gossip about Lady Gaga, but this is pretty ridiculous.  This is a tip from the Kymaro company, a brand-name synonymous with infomercials, and apparently their bandage-color girdle is the actual costume for Lady Gaga & dancers during the “Bad Romance” number at recent performances.

Contrary to Gaga’s outrageous couture runway “get-ups”, the Kymaro Body Shaper is as mass-market as it gets. No, Alexander McQueen didn’t do a signature line or anything, these are “As Seen On TV” full-body girdles that retail for $39.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond (no joke…).  Check out the infomercial if you are so inclined on YouTube. Seriously, who wears body shapers as actual clothes, on stage no less? Have her stage costumes gotten so outrageous that she’s run out of ideas?   Ironically, I don’t think the body shaper enhances her body shape at all :p

My Burt’s Bee lip balm just ran out. I decided to try something new. I LOVE Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Balms! When you first put it on, there’s a slight tingling sensation and it makes my lips very full and plump, the lip lines are diminished. It feels very rich and emollient, and it’s loaded with vitamin C and E to protect the lips. I have the Bora Bora color which is so flattering, the shine and pop of color is so amazing this can be counted as lip gloss, but better for you !

Chinese Laundry Top Dollar

Chinese Laundry TOP DOLLAR over-the-knee boots $199. All my boots are in neutral colors, ie. black, brown, and white. I want a pair of boots that are in a vibrant color, although every time I want to get them I chicken out. That’s what happened when I was shopping at the Bay on the weekend. I saw these Chinese Laundry over-the-knee suede boots in the eye-catching purple. I had to try them on, they looked fantastic. They were tall, but not overly, they reach just above my knee. And they looked slim, not bulky as some other over-knee-boots do as they reach the thigh area. I especially like the elastic gore behind the knee, which make the boot very comfortable and it probably can fit a lot of different shapes of legs. I was really tempted to get them. Then I chickened out thinking the purple might not be as versatile.   And also the 4 inch heel probably wouldn’t help me walk in the snow.  One of these days I gotta be more adventurous.  If you live in a place with much less snow, try these on and see if you like them.

Knit tops

Knit tops are some of the most comfortable and versatile pieces of clothing during the winter months. Lately I find myself reaching for those constantly. The several that I have are getting lots of wear and I want to get more. Actually they are pretty season-less, layered or not. Was just browsing through Alloy’s website and saw these cute ones and the prices are insane. Love the vibrant colors, look great with neutral pieces. I say stock up Knit tops starting at $9.90 when you buy 3 or more at Alloy!

The Halter Belt Dress by Tripp NYC $76. Hey it’s a motorcycle vest and a tutu skirt in one dress! I think it’s quite a cute combination. The ruffled tulle underskirt is especially cute, it’s got just the right amount of pouf.

Boots to run around town

After my last pair of slouchy flat boots died, I was anxious to get another pair this winter. Those brown Sperry Topsiders A/O Longpoint Flat Boots that I bought on Gilt Fuse finally came. I like the plaid patch on the back to make it a bit more interesting. They are my new run-around-town boots. The suede is water-resistant and I sprayed on another layer of suede protector. I ran errands all day long today wearing them. They are definitely comfy, and luckily today wasn’t very cold (relatively speaking, -1 Celsius). They probably won’t be able to keep my feet toasty warm when the weather gets really cold.
