Lady Gaga goes gaga for granny’s girdle

Normally I don’t care about gossip about Lady Gaga, but this is pretty ridiculous.  This is a tip from the Kymaro company, a brand-name synonymous with infomercials, and apparently their bandage-color girdle is the actual costume for Lady Gaga & dancers during the “Bad Romance” number at recent performances.

Contrary to Gaga’s outrageous couture runway “get-ups”, the Kymaro Body Shaper is as mass-market as it gets. No, Alexander McQueen didn’t do a signature line or anything, these are “As Seen On TV” full-body girdles that retail for $39.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond (no joke…).  Check out the infomercial if you are so inclined on YouTube. Seriously, who wears body shapers as actual clothes, on stage no less? Have her stage costumes gotten so outrageous that she’s run out of ideas?   Ironically, I don’t think the body shaper enhances her body shape at all :p

Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2010

Have you seen the French label Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2010 show? With all the hoopla about Lindsey Lohan being hired as Emanuel Ungaro’s artistic advisor (what the heck does such a person do anyway?), it’s definitely generating more buzz for the label. I certainly didn’t pay attention to the label before. I’m looking at the colleciton and I’m kinda underwhelmed. The silhouettes are of the ubiquitous body-con variety. The prints and details are pretty simple. I do like the color palette, the hot pink dresses look pretty sexy. I don’t get the fur stoles for spring though. NYTimes has a hilarious review about it, A Controversial Debut for Lohan in Paris. It sums it up nicely. “Celebrity fashion designers have, until now, been a mostly American phenomenon, with lines targeted to department stores under labels by Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Justin Timberlake, among many others. But Ms. Lohan’s arrival at a 45-year-old Paris house known for $1,500 dresses and a tradition of couture craftsmanship is entirely different, something akin to a McDonald’s fry cook taking the reins of a three-star Michelin restaurant.” Lol.

This just showed up in my inbox this morning. I thought it was too silly so I had to share.

Full disclosure: I actually have 2 pairs of demin-looking leggings that I bought on eBay last year (you might find them this blog if you searched). But I never wore them as pants. Mostly under dresses and boots in the winter because they were thicker and warmer and looked different from other leggings. Never ever wear them as pants!

A curvier Kate Moss

Have you guys seen these pictures of Kate Moss (and read the interview Kate: ‘I Am a Woman Now’) on NYMag.com? I was quite surprised after so many years of seeing her as the waif. But I gotta say she looks fabulous. Love her new curves and the simple makeup on her face is quite a departure from her usual uber glam look, even her freckles show. For TopShop, she is going to start a new lingerie line next season. “I’ve got a clear idea of what I want for lingerie. I’ve just started wearing bras. It’s a miracle. Not today, but I have been. Great timing for my lingerie collection. I’ve just grown breasts…I am a woman now! It’s true. No, honestly, I’ve never worn a bra in my life. Ever! It’s so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying “Are you pregnant?” And I’m like, “No! I just put on a couple of pounds, and they went in the right place.” Isn’t that weird? And how perfect for lingerie…Now I can fill a B-cup. My friend does say I’ve got horseshoes up my ass. I’m like, What does that mean? It means I’m lucky—I’ve got a horseshoe up my ass.” She IS lucky! I wish my extra pounds would go to the right place too.

Wow I didn’t know Nicole Richie had a jewelry line out. So that’s what she’s been doing with her time lately. Honestly, she looks much better now as a mommy, got that mommy-glow I suppose, and she’s not crazy skinny. Have you seen her House of Harlow 1960 at Shop Kitson? She’s still doing the ’70s thing, and I’d say the pieces are quite adorable and prices are not too shabby either.

OMG that girl and that dress!

I was so happy to see one of my girl crushes, Mila Kunis (I religiously watched That 70s Show solely because of her), in Ocean Drive Magazine. She looks absolutely stunning beyond words in this Bill Blass dress. The ruffles are to die! And I always envied her big doll-like eyes. Mila rocks the strong eyebrows + smoky eyes + nude lips look fabulously.

Remember that dress?

I’m sure everybody remember SJP’s white dress with the huge flower in the SATC movie right? It seemed like a hate-it or love-it dress. I for only totally loved it. This is possibly the best I’ve seen Posh on any magazines. The playful loose hair and soft makeup give her a much more gentle look than her usual sharp image. Way to go, Victoria!
