Subtle gold accessories for fall

It seems in the fall when the textures of our wardrobe get richer and heavier, the accessories follow suit too. The airy playful pieces that worked really well in the summer won’t do now. I was sorting my jewelry/accessory drawer the other day and I thought I needed some slightly more “grownup” pieces. These days I’m more and more attracted to gold jewelry, not the gawdy 24K pure gold of course, but the more subtle kind with a bit of vintage feel, such as these unique pieces from Evelyn Knight. They are statement pieces on the more delicate side, which is a good thing ’cause gold is rich enough, they don’t need to be too loud.

Jewelry is getting bigger and bigger

After seeing the ginormous jewelry in the runway shows (Rebecca Taylor and Nanette Lepore had some gorgeous ones) during NY Fashion Week, I kept craving for some. I saw these on Bebe and just couldn’t resist getting a piece for myself. I just love the sheer size of these. They might seem “evening”, but I think they will be quite the cool contrast worn with slouchy cardigans and sweater dresses.

Oh speaking of big accessories, I got the Emeral Green Owl Ring that I ordered from Miss Misa today. Yay! I totally love it. The details are even more exquisite than I imagined. Pleasantly bigger, too :D.

So huge necklaces in my book are a good thing. But I’m not so sure if that’s the case for earrings. Glamour Magazine’s Fashion Blog says the bigger the better. What do you think? They look kinda ridiculous to me on Hilary Duff. Her earrings are literally as big as her face.

Jewelry store of the day - MissMisa.com

I’m always scouting new jewelry designers and their unique designs because you know their heart and soul are in it to make the one-of-a-kind (and most times very affordable) pieces. I love my latest discover of this charming little online jewelry website called MissMisa.com. The designs are very unique and and interesting, and they are all hand-made by Miss Misa, the designer of the store. Her Je T’aime Collection has some really ingenious ideas! Check out this Gold French Love Letter Necklace ($28). The little gold letter pendant actually opens up to reveal the Love Letter on the inside! I’m going to direct my guy to the site the next time he says “Je T’aime” to me so he can prove it ;).
This Vintage Pansy Necklace ($35) is also one of my favorites.
I love the meaning behind this necklace ’cause I am just a big sap and this necklace would suit me so well:
