Who wants invites?

Online sample sales are a hot thing these days. You can find incredible deals on luxury brands up to 70% off. However, they are invite-only. I got invited to two big sample sale sites, Rue La La and Gilt Groupe (thanks eye4style!). How would you like a pair of Earnest Sewn jeans for $72 originally $180? That’s what I just bought. Hurrah! And at the last Michael Kors sale, I could’ve snatched up a pair of gorgeous wedge sandals for about $100, originally over $400. But I was just too slow, all the size 7s disappeared within the first 5 minutes. That’s the thing, almost everything was sold out in the first 30 minutes of the sale. You literally have to log on as soon as the sale begins and cyber-elbow other girls out of your way. Anyway, darlings, do you want in? It’s free to join. I’ll just have to send you an invite via email. If you are interested, just leave your email in the comment. Your email address is kept private and only viewable by me :)

Your weekday wardrobe vs. weekend wardrobe

April 10th, 2008

So my lunchtime mall buddy at work was telling me she did some mad shopping last weekend and got a ton of new dresses and tops. I was really excited to hear what she bought and I said “wear one of your new dresses tomorrow!” She said it would be too much for work and she would save a lot of that stuff for the weekends. To which I can relate. So do you dress differently during the week and on the weekend? I mean of course everybody dresses differently to some extent, but do you do a complete 180 on the weekend? Does your weekend wardrobe reflect a different side of your personality? Do you dress way up or way down? If you run into a co-worker, you think they’d be like “Wow, you look great! so different!” For me, I like to get either dressier or crazier just ’cause our work environment is so casual and laid-back (where pencil skirts and silk blouses are a big overkill, which is too bad, I love that sexy secretary look). I’ll pull out stuff that is not “work-appropriate”, like my short shorts paired with knee-high socks, and a lot of my cutesy dresses, most of which probably make me look like I still live with my parents, teehee. And sometimes I even put my hair up in pigtails or braids, which I would never do on a workday.
So how about you? Do you unleash your inner creative fashion child on weekends? Please share :)

Thank you!

One of you so kindly nominated my little blog for the Trendora Lifestyle Award 2008. Thank you darling, let me know what you are :) It was such a pleasant surprise. Trendora Lifestyle Award, in their words, “is our way of recognizing the top 100 Fashion/Lifestyle sites and blogs on the web. It’s our way of thanking you for an exceptional contribution to a world more stylish, glamorous and chic.” Sounds excellent. I, for one, am looking forward to reading the winning sites and blogs. But most importantly, thank you my fashionista friends for reading mine :D

Christmas Gifts

December 27th, 2007

I had a pretty good haul this Christmas :D. Here are some of the gifts that are fashion and beauty related that I received. I loved them all, especially the Emilio Cavallini Two Tone Tights, the Deep Sapphire Sterling Silver Bracelet with Diamond Accentsicon, and accessories and handbag from H&M and Mango. I guess somebody was paying attention to this blog ;)
I also got a ton of chocolate that’s going to last me for a long time, a movie gift card which is great ’cause we go to the movies all the time, a gift card for HomeSense that I’ll put to use once we get our house. Oh I also got a new Toshiba laptop! Which I broke the second day because it had Windows Vista (it is the devil. If you are thinking about upgrading from XP to Vista, DON’T DO IT!), I was so fed up with it I decided to wipe it and put XP on it, and that broke the computer.

So what did everybody get??

Merry Christmas!

December 24th, 2007

I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! I hope you get all that you wished for and more. And most importantly, you get to spend tons of quality family time and get lots of hugs and kisses, and the most wonderful memories.

Girlshop.com’s closing?

April 13th, 2007

I found about this from eye4style — the popular online clothing store girlshop.com is closing down. This is quite sad news. I know a lot of people love that site. I just went to their site, nothing looks out of ordinary. But I don’t know if you can still shop there or there’d be any transactions going on in the back. Just goes to show you with millions of online shops, the business is getting really tough.

5 things you didn’t know about me

January 20th, 2007

I’ve been reading other people’s interesting “5 things you didn’t know about me” posts. Then the hilarious Daddy Likey tagged me. I gotta say it’s much easier to read others than to come up with my own. Here we go:

1). I’m a big fan of horror books and movies. I have a near complete collection of Richard Laymon’s (one of the most underrated horror writers) books. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago. I was pretty sad. But I’ve discovered more excellent horror writers since then. And I only go to movie theaters to see horror or action movies, as a result very few of my girlfriends would ever go with me. The only time I can remember that they went with me was to see “Dreamcatcher” (which is not a horror movie by my standard, more of a sci-fi), they all had to get up and walk out of the theater in the middle of it, including a guy friend.

2). I loved LOVED “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (and “Angel”). I still watch it sometimes for old time’s sake. One thing I miss about the show, besides the witty banters, is Buffy’s outfits. I always thought she had the cutest clothes in the world.

3). Did I mention that I wish I had a corporate job like an executive assistant to a CEO so I could wear sexy secretary outfits, like a body-skimming silk blouse with a tight pencil skirt and 4″ Prada heels sauntering down the hallway? Yep I envy those girls. Now I’m sure they’d tell me how much work it is to get gussied up every morning. But since I don’t have such a job, I like to think that it must be so much fun getting dressed up to go to work. And you’d have a great excuse to go shopping for new clothes all the time.

4). I love rollercoasters. I love Canada’s Wonderland. I go there every summer. Sometime years I even get a season pass. And ever since they built a huge outlet mall beside the park, I go there even more often. We would spend half a day at the park, when we couldn’t stand the heat anymore, we’d go to the mall to shop, it has all my favorite stores.

5). I live such a simple and boring life. One of my favorite pasttimes on the weekend is that we go to Costco, walk around eating all the free samples and leave without actually buying anything. We don’t find shopping at Costco a good deal for us ’cause there are only 2 people to feed. If we bought food in big packages, they’d go bad for sure. Once in a while I pick up a book or two there, but it’s all about the free samples ;)

Speaking of Costco, I think we’re due for a trip there. Before I go, I tag Blooming Lily, Diamond Crowns, Fashion Asia, The Fashionable, Pretty Eastern. I don’t know if any of you have been tagged already. If so, I guess you can ignore me :).

Happy Boxing Day Shopping!

December 24th, 2006
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everybody!!

And a wish to my fellow Canadian fashion divas — hope you all have a fruitful Boxing Day on the 26th! (I’ll be getting up at 6 a.m. We plan on buying a digital camera and a big HDTV at Future Shop and BestBuy, and lots and lots of clothes and shoes and bags….Hopefully I’ll have things worth showing here afterwards).

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!

December 18th, 2006

Christmas is fast approaching. How’s everybody doing with their Christmas shopping? I’m so not done. The gifts I ordered online haven’t arrived yet. I really really hope they get here before this Friday. For myself, I don’t really need anything, so I didn’t ask for much, just some cute knick-knacks, cute socks and inexpensive fashion jewelry ’cause you know I like cute little things that don’t cost much money :D

I’d like to wish all you fabulous fashionistas a very
Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year!!
I hope you get everything you were wishing for and more, and your loved ones LOVE everything you got them too. But most importantly, I hope you have the most wonderful time with your family and friends and the most precious memories to hold dear to your heart!

BussBuss.com Giveaway!

December 13th, 2006

We don’t need an excuse.

December 13th, 2006

So I was listening to CBC Radio this morning and this philosophy professor was saying that Christmas SHOULD be a commercial holiday, that we shouldn’t feel guilty about buying lots of gifts and receiving lots of gifts, and that we should enjoy the secular aspect of Christmas. Well, that’s refreshing. Not that people haven’t been doing just that for a very long time now, but it’s interesting to hear somebody actually say it out loud.

So charge forward, my friends! Shop to your hearts’ content.

I’m taking advantage of the lunch hour for more shopping (an hour is not much time, hope I can be productive).
