Sometimes I just want a funky bag
I was jonsing for a new funky bright-colored handbag for the summer. This Mikko Patent Spai Bag totally reminded me of Marni’s handbag, but I wasn’t about to break my bank for a Marni’s bag yet, so this one was perfect, it’s only $78. It’s super roomy, it can hold everything I need in a day and an extra pair of shoes. It also comes with a shoulder strap. I also wanted the purple one, but I decided on the cheery yellow shade instead. When I asked my guy “do you like my new bag?”, he gave me a puzzled look and said “errr, yes, it’s very funky.” Lol. Guys they will never understand.
If I can’t have Marc…

…then perhaps I can have something similar. I’ve been lusting after this Marc by Marc Jacobs Alessandra Shantung Dress
($428) forever. It’s adorable beyond words. I’m a sucker for big bows. But look what I found at Yesstyle, this look-alike for only $55 :D. I just have no idea how to tie the pretty bow like in the picture. Mine looks all screwed up. I really need a lesson on tying a proper bow!

Second-hand shopping is hard work…
but very enjoyable. I went second-handing on Saturday, I didn’t score big. I know it’s partly my own fault ’cause I don’t have the patience to comb the racks. I did found this oversize John Hort handmade leather clutch with a gold shoulder chain at Goodwill. John Hort was a handmade handbag brand from Vancouver, Canada in the 60s. I wish I knew more about the label. Ya know the metal-chained clutches have come back, I’ve seen lots at the mall, but I wanted to get a second-hand one. This one is still in excellent condition. It’s pretty roomy inside and has two divided compartments that are expandable, much more practical than all my other clutches.
After going to the second-hand stores, I wasn’t ready to go home yet so I hit the mall for a few frivolous buys. I found these peep-toe slingbacks at Costa Blanca. I wasn’t looking for shoes, but they are super comfy so I had to get them.

My Little White Dress

Ah it is a glorious day today. It’s sunny and warm, I decided to wear white head-to-toe, so I put on my new ruffle-y little white dress (sorry about the grainy pictures, my camera died again, so I had to use my BlackBerry to take the pictures). I think the old school of thought is you are not supposed to white until Memorial Day, right? Who cares about that silly rule! I’m in a great mood today, so I only should dress accordingly. I’m going to go out to lunch and then hit the second-hand shops. Haven’t done that in a long time!
Filed under Wearing Today | Comments (2)Bare legs!
Well, the temperature has finally climbed above 0 Celsius today (although it’s raining so it’s still cold and wet), I badly wanted to wear my new Belted Pumpkin Skirt (silly name, lol). I decided to ditch my tights ’cause none of them looked right with the skirt. Goodness, my legs haven’t seen the light of day forever! All morning girls at work were asking if I was cold, lol. Good thing the skirt is this soft thin tweed material so it’s not too flimsy, But to be quite honest, I do feel a little timid now that I have to venture outside to get lunch ![]()
Cute bag and cute shoes put me in a better mood
Wow we are really having some schizophrenic weather. Yesterday it was snow storming and today it’s nice and sunny. It’s still freezing and there’s still some snow on the ground, but the heck with it, I’m wearing my new white mary jane pumps with golden metallic trims. I just love walking around in them, hehe.
And I think I gushed about wanting a pink bag for spring, right? Well, my pink Jvin Buckle Detailed Square Tote (best deal ever!) has finally arrived. It’s super soft and light, and quite roomy.
Blue is a happy color!
So we know blue is a huge color this coming spring. When isn’t it really? And blue is my favorite color so I got all the more reason to get things in blue. In the cold weather I like darker shades of blue and in the warm weather I wear light blues. I’m wearing this blue dress that I snatched up on eBay. I’m hunting for a blue bag right now, a really roomy, simple and function bag, but the color will make it much more fun. And I want a pair of blue pumps or sandals too. Gosh, I want all of these.

My belated birthday gifts to myself
I’ve been waiting for my birthday gifts from myself from one of my absolute favorite websites Yesstyle. Even though they are a little late, they are finally here!
Hash Multi-Pocket Bag. I’ve wanted a bag with lots and lots of pockets forever. This one is just what I need. It’s got two side pouches, four pockets at the front and one at the back just on the outside! All the pockets are easy to access with either zippers or magnetic closures. And it comes with a shoulder strap too. I’m finally organized now
Trisha Lustrous Back Patent Pumps. Girls at work keep gushing over these. They love the silver glitter, the ribbons and cute little pearls on the back. They asked me what store I got these from, I told them they probably wouldn’t find them in stores here, just have to go to YesStyle’s website
Trisha Croc-Print Trim Platform Pumps. Another pair of pumps from this Korean brand Trisha. They make such fun shoes. Really love the croc-print heel and platform.
IZAR Double Breasted Flare Coat. I couldn’t ask more from this mere $38 coat (best deal ever). Love love love. Initially I wanted a white one, I really wanted a light color coat because I was tired of wearing dark ones. But the white was sold out. The grey one ended up being a good choice since I already have white coats, but no grey coats. I still have at least two months to get lots of wear out of this one.
59 Seconds Metallic Plaid Dress with Bow. This dress looked so adorable I just had to have it. My guy couldn’t understand my obsession with giant sleeves. But even he had to admit it looks cute. I tried belting it, but it ended up making the sleeves look extra gigantic (not in a good way). So no belting. It sorta presents the challenge of wearing this dress underneath a coat. There’s so much fabric on the sleeves that bunch up inside the coat sleeves. Uncomfortable, lol. But I don’t care, the dress is cute-ah.

New purchases from eBay

My camera’s finally fixed. Yay! Just in time to show you some of the stuff I recently snatched up on eBay and have been wearing this week. It seems like the tights + sweatshirt/shift/jumper dress is my uniform these days (and I love pockets :). They are just so easy to wear. You just need accessories to add a more personal touch. I’m loving these dresses.

I’m not thinking about Fall yet
I can’t believe people are already thinking about their fall wardrobe! I mean I can, and I know it shows savvy planning and forward-thinking, but we’re in the middle of July, which for us in Canada, means summer only started like yesterday. I’m definitely still enjoying buying summer clothes, even if I know that a lot of the stuff on sale now will be out of the trend come September. Anyway, I saw this polka dot top in its retro print glory and I had to snatch it up. And I got the ginormous necklace to go with it too.

Sweet gingham

I’ve expressed my love for gingham print clothes before. Today I dug out my pink gingham skirt - one of my all-time faves. I just love the way it makes me look all nice and innocent. My 10-year-old niece even complimented on me, especially the little ribbons on it. You know you’re looking sweet if a 10-year-old girl thinks so and says she wants one just like it. Gingham prints in my opinion will always be in. You can’t wear it head to toe of course. Keep it either on a dress, a top, shoes, or accessories.

Party balloon
I’m off to my sister-in-law’s stag ‘n doe party tonight in my new balloon dress. This could very well be my favorite dress this summer. My guy was skeptical when I showed him the picture when I was ordering it ’cause being a typical guy, he likes figure-hugging dresses more than the loose-fitting babydoll, trapeze or bubble ones. But he actually likes this one on me, “it is shockingly cute,” he says. To which, I say “Ha, I told you I’d look cute in it!” Lol. It looks more bubble-y sideways, which I love.

You know how addicted I am to balloon-y things. Now I’m contemplating this dress.
Floral Pattern Balloon Dress $52.
Love for DVF
I’m wearing my one and only Diane Von Furstenburg dress today. *Somebody better take me on a hot date!* I got a great deal on it. I love the ties on the shoulder and the waist, and the way it makes my chest seem a bit more ample, miraculously. And the print is really pretty, I hate my camera for taking such crappy pics. Anyway, what girl doesn’t love DVF dresses, right? Look at them, they are gorgeous!
