Happy V Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day everybody! Did you celebrate on the weekend or are you celebrating today? Since it’s a workday, my guy and I are having a lunch date. I wanted to wear something girly and romantic but still work appropriate. Feminine blouses are super easy. I got this light pink satin blouse on ebay recently. More blouse acquisition is in order. Anyway, hope you give and receive lots of love today!
Workhorse dress

Another work outfit today, not very exciting…I’m wearing a shift dress from Suzy Shier. It’s a bit loose on me, so next time I’ll probably belt it. I really like the criss-crossing on the chest. The dress is quite conservative for me as it is over my knees. I’m wearing my new Adrienne Vittadini kitten heel pumps. When the weather warms up, I’ll definitely go with higher heels to enlongate the legs. I foresee this dress being a workhorse in my wardrobe as it is easy to wear and goes with everything and I can pill on fun accessories too. The cardigan is one of my old faithfuls. It’s actually a vibrant teal shade as opposed to the blue in the picture (I think I screwed up some settings on my camera. The dress is actually more of a brown color too instead of looking grey-ish here. That’s they why the color’s off).
Workwear

It’s not often that I wear very proper and conservative for work like this since we are just a bunch of nerds in a software company. I just picked up this stretchy deep purple pencil skirt at Le Chateau in hopes to add more pencil skirts to my wardrobe.
(Geez, I gotta make sure there are no dirty smudges on the mirror next time when I take my outfit pictures. My son likes to smear things on it).

We had a belated Chinese New Year dinner yesterday with some friends. I wanted to wear something red for good luck. I got this puff-shouldered top in hot pink from Urban Behaviour a while ago for super cheap. And I thought it seemed quite a festival shirt to wear.
For work
I mentioned before that I’m trying to be more conscious about shopping these days, especially for things that are more office-friendly. And I will be switching teams soon, I would like to make a good impression on the new team members. I think my recent shoppage on gilt.com and ideeli.com turned out okay.
Franco Sarto EBONY Piombo Wedges. These suede wedges are very classic, but not without some interesting details like the buckles and the zippers in the back, and the embosses snake skin on the wedges make them not totally boring.
Adrienne Vittadini JANIS Chocolate Patent Kitten Heels. I feel very prim and proper in these. The kitten heels are the teeniest I’ve ever seen. They are so comfy, the leather’s super soft, plus there’s plenty of cushion on the insole.
And I had to include something fun. I got this super sparkley Erica Anenberg Jewelry Ocean Arch cocktail ring. I just love the rich blue hues

And I also went shopping tonight and got a tweed-like shift dress, some separates and a pair of ballet flats. Hopefully I’ll post a few outfits as soon as I can find some free time.

We’ve been doing lots of visiting during the holiday. Today we are off to see a couple friends and my son can have a play date with his buddy. I’m wearing this copper H&M dress that I got for xmas. It’s an unusual color for me. I don’t think I have anything in this color in my closet. It’s a little bit big for me, my guy said I should put a belt, but I actually like the roominess. And I love huge ruffled sleeves (very me).
Happy the day after Christmas
I hope everybody had a fantastic Christmas!! And Happy Boxing Day to my Canadian readers. Hope you score great deals if you are out hunting. All I’m going to buy hopefully is diapers on sale, haha! Before I head out, this outfit is some of the new clothes I got for Christmas (except the skirt). My mom-in-law got me this pink top with lace-up back, my sis-in-law got me the cute yellow cardigan. The necklace and the knee-high socks with lace trims (somebody was reading this blog) and the fuzzy boots are from my guy.
And the best gift I got from my guy was this dun dun dun…
SONY READER!
I have so many ebooks on my laptop that I have yet to read. As you can see I’ve loaded 29 books on there already. Now I can read them before I go to bed every night.

Quickly took these shots with my Blackberry before running out to do some Christmas shopping. Wearing my fave roomy h&m sweater, f21 plaid skirt, Dav socks, and Boutique 9 leather loafers, which are more comfy than sneakers. I can shop for hours in them.
Happy Cyber Monday
Happy Cyber Monday everybody! We just got back from my cousin’s place in Maryland. We went to the Leesburg Outlet mall on Black Friday, but couldn’t really get our shops on. My son was not happy being woken up at 3 in the morning and pushed through the crowds, so we had to leave early. I just got some tops, cardigans, shoes, and a bag. My guy got more things than I did.
I had bought these Charlotte Ronson sandals on Gilt. They were waiting at my cousin’s.

These Dav over the knee cable knit socks are surprisingly warm and soft. Sometime wool socks can be scratchy, but these are very smooth. I also got them in white.
My love for loafers and oxfords still hasn’t died down. I wanted a pair of dark brown ones and as soon as I saw these Boutique 9 loafers I knew they’d be perfect. I especially love that there’s a bit of bronze-y shimmer to them.

Also got this cute London Fog shoulder bag.

There are still tons of great Cyber Monday deals today. I’ve updated my Sales & Coupons page.

It’s been abnormally warm for us here in Southern Ontario. I’m glad I can still wear my favorite Gap paperbag shorts and still walk outside without freezing my legs off. I’ll probably continue to wear them into the winter. They are just super comfy and still appropriate for work. And I’m determined to get more use of these leather Farylrobin boots this year.
Tweed dress

As I’ve been gearing up to go back to work, I’m trying to get some new work wear. I got this tweed dress from a Korean label called Black Queen. I got a great deal for it. The material and cutting is excellent. Love the two layers of light ruffles on the bottom. And there’s a cute bow accent on the back too. You know I love me a cute bow.
I absolutely adore this dress. I think it can be dressed up quite nicely for after work too. The only regret I have is I should’ve ordered it in a smaller size. I got it when I was still carrying some baby weight earlier this year. So I was a little delusional about what weight I would end up in eventually. Now I’ve lost all the baby weight, this dress is a little bit too loose. Should I belt it? I gotta get some new belts.
Filed under Wearing Today | Comment (1)My fanny pack

I never thought I’d buy a fanny pack, but I did! Well, I prefer to call it a waist bag. I got this cute little cognac bag on eBay. It’s actually a shoulder bag, but it also comes with a handy waist belt so you can wear it around your waist. I find that very handy when traveling which I’ll be doing this Saturday when we go to Spain! It’s got lots of compartments to organize my things like wallet and passports and Blackberry.
And of course if I want I can use the shoulder strap.

A good thrift
I don’t go thrifting nearly as often as I would like. And when I do go and when I find something unexpectedly good, it makes me want to go back the next day. I don’t remember if I showed you guys this fleece jacket before. I find the big flappy collars quite adorable. Paired with Banana Republic sweater dress and Sperry suede boots which makes me happy to step into warm boots again.

I’m meeting a couple girlfriends for dessert tonight after my two boys go down for the night. Comfort is key. This Falls cardigan is my most versatile cardi. It’s wonderfully drapey and light-weight. It looks totally different buttoned and tied or open. And these Marc by MJ Doodle leggings are my go-to leggings for warmth and comfort.
It’s a crisp and cool night. It makes me so happy that today’s chilly enough to wear my faux fur coat.

By the way, I’m totally obsessed with faux fur coats now. With a white one out of the way, I want to get a leopard (a la classic) print one. But I don’t want to spend too much. Think I’m going to get this one. Hmm….
gojane faux fur leopard print jacket
$56.40
Lots of buttons

It’s a t-shirt and jeans kind of day today. But to add some interest, I paired this military-inspired blazer I got from UO.
